Struck-Off IBC Search portal enhances transparency and legal certainty.
Written by Dharmesh Naik,
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has introduced its online portal, “Struck-Off IBC Search,” designed to provide industry stakeholders and the public with direct access to information on International Business Companies (IBCs) that have been struck off or dissolved from the Register of International Business Companies. The platform strengthens transparency and supports informed decision-making by allowing users to verify a company’s legal standing before engaging in business activities.
Why the Struck-Off IBC Search portal matters
Regulatory compliance and legal certainty remain central to a well-functioning business environment. As legislation prohibits struck-off or dissolved companies from conducting business, the ability to confirm a company’s status is critical for counterparties, advisors and financial institutions.
The portal by FSA enables users to:
- Confirm whether an IBC has been struck off or dissolved
- Assess whether a company is legally permitted to carry out business activities
- Reduce legal and commercial risk before entering into transactions
All companies displayed on the portal hold either a struck-off or dissolved status. If a search produces no results, this indicates that the company does not fall within the categories featured on the platform.
Understanding “Struck-Off” and “Dissolved” statuses
Clear distinctions apply between the different legal outcomes reflected on the portal.
A purely “Struck-Off” status applies to IBCs that have undergone outward continuation, conversion into a domestic company, merger or consolidation.
A “Dissolved” status applies where a company has been formally dissolved under the relevant provisions of the Act, including:
- Dissolved (Deemed dissolved): The company was struck off under section 272(1)(c) or section 272(3) and subsequently dissolved under section 275 of the Act.
- Dissolved (Voluntary winding up): The company has been dissolved under section 297 or section 308 of the Act.
- Dissolved (Compulsory winding up): The company has been dissolved under section 326 of the Act.
Accessing the portal and obtaining official confirmation
For ease of use, the link to the Struck-Off IBC Search portal is located at the top right-hand side of the FSA website.
While the portal provides immediate visibility of a company’s status, the FSA recommends obtaining an official certificate of search where more detailed or authoritative confirmation is required.
For further information or assistance, stakeholders are encouraged to contact the FSA directly.
